Edwin Bussey said "I had visited before so knew what to expect. This time I was in a party of 43 who played an event over 3 days. The average Stableford score (and I will not divulge what it was!!!) demonstrated just how difficult it was. The lowest single figure handicap player won the whole 3 day event - cream rising to the top!!
There was not a single dissenting voice amongst us with regard to the condition of the course - quite superb. The after golf lunch/drink sessions on the terrace were great, the staff were so pleasant and could not do enough for us. Prices were very reasonable - particularly compared to the Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca courses. AND- ABOVE ALL - there seemed to be nobody else out there on the course....it was like they had reserved the whole place just for us.
All I can say is, forget the busiest parts of the Algarve, The Costa del Sol, the Costa Blanca, Majorca, etc. and try the Islantilla Golf Resort. But be prepared for a very quiet time...Puerto Banus or Marbella this is not!!!! but, particularly if you are on a group trip - or if you are not bothered about lap dancing clubs! - just stay Hotel based, have a few drinks in comfort and you will not be disappointed"

Paul Collinson said: "Just having returned from Islantilla,after playing 5 rounds,only got to play green and blue courses due to course maintainance.Found the green quite easy,but what a shock on the blue,three very challenging holes that can totally destroy your card.On the whole a very pleasant and peacefull golf holiday,would recommend to anyone,maybe split golf and play a couple of rounds at el rompido,will certainlly be going back."

Ilona Collinson said: "Only 18 holes out of the 27 were open which was a bit disappointing. However, the courses were quite challenging and we would definitely go back."

David Neilson said:  "Housing development intrudes on the golf course surroundings and too much distance between the greens to tee area of next hole for senior golfers (ok with buggy) fairways excellent, some very difficult par 5 holes but a challenge. very International selection of golfers but no really undue slow play like in other parts of the Spanish Costas"

J.Terry said "27 holes. Red,Blue,Yellow. Depending on colour you play the 1st or 10th is a really difficult par 5. Requires 2 nice shots and a blind 3rd shot to small green surronded by trees, scrubland and water hazards. A real card wrecker. The course is well kept with lots of intereting and tricky holes."

One of the advantages of having 27 holes of golf at your disposal, as at Islantilla Golf Club, is that when maintenance work is scheduled 18 holes are always in play as it is only necessary to close 9 holes at any time, thus the 18 holes in play are always in good condition.  The 2008 maintenance schedule is as follows:

• 5th - 18th May 2008 - Holes 19 - 27
• 19th May - 1st June 2008 - Holes 10 - 18
• 2nd June - 20th July 2008 - Holes 1 - 9
• 1st - 10th Sept 2008 - Holes 19 - 27
• 11th - 21st Sept 2008 - Holes 1 - 9
• 22nd Sept - 3rd October 2008 - Holes 10 - 18
