The decision to build a golf course on the land of the Quinta de Benamor was made in 1986. The landowner invited the late Sir Henry Cotton to design the concept for the 18-hole course. Sir Henry was inspired by the ancient church next to the site of the clubhouse and the spectacular location of the entire site.

The result is a fantastic par 71 course of 5500 metres which offers a challenge to players of all standards. The course is undulating, but not overly hilly and has stunning

views to the north and south to the mountains and the Atlantic.

Indigenous olive, cork, carob, fig and almond trees, many of them centuries old feature both aesthetically and in playing terms. Water hazards and bunkers are strategically placed around the course to test your strategy and accuracy.

The greens of Penn A4 are superb, and fairways of Bermuda Sahara provide good lies for most well-placed shots.

A driving range, putting green and putting course are available for pre-round practice.

Benamor golf will always inspire a return visit, as a good score is visibly acheivable but may be elusive!
